My biggest complaint about these is they read like romance novels. This concern was exacerbated by the fact that this lead characters quirk was the use of the phrase "ack!". Yep, a straight out of Cathy "ack!". Also, I again was bothered by the constant references to other contemporary tv shows and novels. It made me feel like I was again reading fan fiction, rather then a well done novel.
